MTSS

MTSS - Multi-Tiered System of Supports

What Is MTSS?

MTSS stands for Multi-Tiered System of Supports.
It’s a schoolwide framework that helps make sure every student receives the right kind of support to reach their full potential — academically, socially, and emotionally.

How It Works:

MTSS provides different levels (or “tiers”) of support based on each student’s needs:

  • Tier 1 – Support for All Students
Every student receives high-quality instruction and positive behavior supports in the classroom. Teachers use proven strategies to help students succeed.

  • Tier 2 – Extra Support for Some Students
If a student needs additional help, they may receive small-group support focused on specific skills like reading, math, or behavior.

Tier 3 – Intensive Support for a Few Students
A small number of students may need individualized instruction or specialized interventions designed just for them.

Why MTSS Matters:

  • Helps teachers identify and address needs early

  • Ensures no student “falls through the cracks”

  • Promotes both academic growth and emotional well-being

  • Encourages teamwork among teachers, families, and specialists

How Families and the Community Can Help:

  • Stay Involved: Ask how your child is doing and what supports are in place.

  • Communicate: Share information about your child’s strengths and needs.

  • Collaborate: Participate in meetings and celebrate progress together.

Our Goal

At Warsaw Elementary, we believe that every child can learn and grow.
MTSS helps us work together — school, family, and community — to make sure that happens for every student, every day.
